The Wii U is a home video game console from Nintendo. The console was announced during Nintendo’s press conference at E3 2011. The Wii U is the company’s sixth major home console and is the successor to the Wii. The console was released on November 18, 2012 in North America, November 30, 2012 in Europe, December 8, 2012 in Australia, and December 8, 2012 in Japan. The console is the first Nintendo home console to support high-definition graphics, and is backward compatible with Wii software and accessories. The Wii U’s primary control device is the Wii U GamePad, which features an embedded touchscreen, directional buttons, analog sticks, and action buttons. The touchscreen can be used to supplement game play, or act as a standalone tablet-like device. The Wii U is also compatible with the Wii Remote, Wii Remote Plus, Wii Nunchuk, Wii Balance Board, and Wii Wheel.
Even though the Wii U is not equipped with a built-in Netflix app, it is still possible to stream Netflix on the console. All you need is a Netflix-compatible device, like a Wii U, Wii, PlayStation 3, Roku, Xbox 360, or Apple TV, and a broadband Internet connection.

This is because the dev team at Netflix no longer sees it fit to continue supporting the Wii U version of the app. Everyone who has a Wii U has some other device to watch Netflix on, so that led to reasoning that the Wii U version was no longer needed.

As of 2019, it is no longer possible to download apps on the Wii. However, the Nintendo Switch, Wii’s successor, is able to download apps such as Hulu.

Nintendo has announced the end of its production on January 31, 2017. The ability to purchase content through the Nintendo eShop will be discontinued on March 27, 2023. Rumors spread claiming the Wii U would destruct in 2023 but the rumor was debunked.

The adventure packs, like the Lego series of games, follows the path of the movies the pack is related to. The confusing part is the trying to figure out which pack and do what.
The Wii U was lacking in third-party support, which was one of the main reasons it didn’t do well commercially. Nintendo wanted the Wii U to have features of a conventional console, but without the crucial third-party support, it couldn’t achieve this. This lack of support ultimately led to the Wii U’s demise.
